Kelly Williams joined the Salt Lake office of Beatty & Wozniak in August 2010, bringing with her nearly ten years’ experience representing oil and gas clients in private practice. She advises clients on a variety of issues related to natural resource and public lands law, with an emphasis on acquisition, exploration, permitting and production of oil, gas, and mineral properties. In addition, Kelly has extensive experience conducting stand-up title examinations of private, Federal, State and Indian lands, primarily in Utah and Wyoming, as well as preparation of drilling and division order, acquisition, and financing title opinions. She also routinely advises clients with respect to transactions and agreements on oil and gas properties, including review and preparation of real property instruments and title curative documents. Prior to joining Beatty & Wozniak, Kelly was an associate with the Salt Lake oil and gas boutique law firm of Lear & Lear, LLP, where her practice focused on acquisition, exploration, permitting, and production of oil and gas properties; federal and state land use and regulatory compliance; complex title examinations and acquisition due diligence; oil and gas conservation; pipeline acquisition and permitting; administrative hearings and appeals, condemnation; and resource development on public and private lands.
Kelly earned her Juris Doctor degree with a Certificate in Natural Resource Law from the University of Utah in 1999, where she was the president of the Natural Resources Law Forum, editor of the Western Energy Bulletin, a Legal Writing teaching assistant, and a finalist in the Traynor Moot Court Competition, moving on to compete in the National Moot Court Competition. After graduating law school, Kelly worked for the State of Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration before leaving to join the oil and gas practice group at the Salt Lake office of Snell & Wilmer, LLP. Kelly is licensed to practice law in Utah and is a member of the Utah Association of Professional Landmen, Utah Petroleum Association, and the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. She served as the chairman of the Oil & Gas committee of the Utah State Bar Natural Resources and Environmental Law Section from 2005-2006.
When she isn't reviewing title documents, Kelly enjoys spending time with her three adventurous children – doing whatever they dream up for entertainment.
