Bill Keefe’s entire professional career has been spent serving oil and gas clients. Following graduation from law school, Bill entered the United States Army as a Military Police lieutenant. After completing a two year tour of duty, which included one year in Viet Nam, Bill became employed as an attorney with the International Division of Union Oil Company of California. This was followed by his promotion to International Division Counsel. While in this capacity, he represented his client in a variety of transactional matters and negotiations involving foreign governments and foreign companies. These activities involved extensive travel to countries in Asia, Europe and South America.

After ten years dealing with international oil and gas legal matters as corporate counsel for two major oil companies, Bill moved his family to his home town of Casper, Wyoming where he served as general counsel for a local company. This was followed by a move to Denver, Colorado where he was corporate counsel for a large independent oil company.

After eighteen years as corporate counsel, Bill entered the private practice of law in Denver when he joined the firm of Gorsuch, Kirgis, Campbell, Walker & Grover in 1988. He quickly became a partner and remained with the firm for almost seventeen years. When the firm dissolved, Bill became a partner with the well known Denver oil and gas law firm of Poulson, Odell & Peterson. In early 2008, Bill joined Beatty & Wozniak, of counsel.

During his twenty years of private practice, Bill has specialized in representing clients before oil and gas regulatory agencies, principally the Colorado and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commissions. He also advises clients concerning complicated legal issues related to oil and gas operations, leasing and title. Bill is a member of the Colorado, Wyoming, California and Texas Bar Associations. He is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and has written and presented three papers sponsored by that organization.

Bill would quickly note that joining Beatty & Wozniak was a particularly good fit for him. Not only did it give him the opportunity to continue practicing in his specialty area of representing clients before administrative agencies but it also allowed him the ability to offer his clients access to the expertise of other attorneys in the firm with significant experience in other oil and gas law specialties including energy law litigation.
